Artist Web (artistweb.online) is officially established in 2018, which formally known as helpmenami.com. This website and its services are managed by Nami Okuzono.
Nami Okuzono was born and raised in small district of Osaka, Japan. Currently, she is based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is a current graduate of Institute of American Indian Arts. Her creativity came from her mother who would always make pretty dresses, tiny bags, some drawings or anything that she really liked as a child. Her artistic inspiration bloomed when she started being aware of galleries and art museums in and around the area of Osaka. As much as she loves art, she loves traveling that she used to work part-time while attending high school and to travel for art exhibitions all over Japan. Soon after graduating high school, she decided to come to the states for education. It’s a long story.
My very first client was my mom’s friend who just opened a nail salon nearby. I was 13 years old then. She bought me my first-ever laptop and a printer. She wanted me to design some postcard for her nail salon and print them out for marketing. With new tools, I fell right into this world wide web. I built my own website when I was 14. I had 3 different on-going novels and I would also write poems to share on my website. I drew and made graphics with a 15×10 cm drawing pad I got for $30. But there were too many things that I did not know in this world of web so I spent a good amount of my free time doing research and trouble-shooting to make what I wanted happen. I self-taught HTML codes, how to make graphics, and most importantly how to be patient with technology.
I love art in my entire life. Art has connected me to creative people and creative people brought me a joy of life. So, I studied art in college. Soon I realized that there are so many artists who are talented but do not have their presence online. I would tell these great artists, there is a whole world awaiting to see your amazing works! Well, then I thought to myself, I can actually help them with that. Artist Web gives me one of the greatest opportunities to work with one of the finest artists. Along with this journey, I am hoping to help artists and creative individuals to become more self-sustainable, like if they can sell works online, wouldn’t that be nice?
